Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) enables public & industry participation in standards development and enhancement via LocalCircles
- • Over 60,000 consumers get connected with BIS the online community at launch
- • Over 10,000 SMEs and Startups become part of the industry community
12th February 2019, New Delhi: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) today announced the launch of an online consumer community and an online industry community for Standards Consultation. These online communities, initiated in association with LocalCircles – India’s leading community social media platform for constructive causes, will enable any consumer across India to get connected with BIS and participate in the consultation process on standards. This community will also allow consumers to share their experiences with various products and services and ideas for standards development and enhancement. Similarly, the industry community will enable businesses to participate in the standards consultation and enhancement processes. New sectoral level online communities may be created to bring sector level experts together as the need arises.

Construction Services
Smart Cities Standards Consultation with Experts
Consumer Feedback on Hallmark Jewellery
Consumer Feedback on ISI Mark
Feedback on BIS licensing and certification procedures
Over 60,000 consumers of India have already connected with BIS in the first phase via the “Consumer Participation in Standards” online community while over 10,000 SME and Startups have connected in the “Industry participation in Standards” online community.
