2. However, the companies are auto renewing the value added services once the validity is over and they need not have explicit consent of the subscribers as per TRAI regulations. This part of the regulation is being looked as "anti-consumer policy". The matter was taken up with TRAI for ensuring that subscriber's consent be mandated for auto-renewing. TRAI as usual being pro-telecom companies declined stating most of the consumers are interested in such regulations. In order to counter/verify the contention of TRAI we had posted a question to seek public view. So far only 5% of the respondent said that no consent be mandated, 95% respondent stated explicit consent be required for renewal of the value added service.
