Durga Parsad ji, while sleeping, it is not good to cover your head at all either with the quilt or with a cap even if you are bald. While going out in winter, you should always wear a head cap or hat to protect from cold, however, when inside the house and while sleeping, it is not advisable to cover the head or wear socks in feet. There is a very old saying..." paar garam, pet naram aur sir thanda, doctor ke ser mein maro danda", which means that you should keep your feet warm while sleeping by covering with quilt or blanket ( but not with socks so that the feet are free to move), stomach should be light ( i.e no heavy food at night) and the head should remain cool, meaning not to be covered. I think when you are inside the house, it is very unlikely to catch cold from the head, but it is very easy to catch cold from throat even inside the house. But while going out, you must cover your head to protect from cold wind etc. more
