The misleading schemes and advertisements has become the basis of unfair trade practices. The consumers are being lured by such promises and schemes, features which does not exists. I would appeal to the members if they come across such mis-selling, advertisements may share their experience and also complain to the authorities.

I am pleased to inform you that Department of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India has launched an online complaint system against misleading advertisements. The complaint can be registered at www.gama.gov.inadvertisements. more

Not very sure this is the right forum to remind the issue of unfair/mischievous pricing of goods like Rs.99,199..............999 and plus raised by one of the members,siting an example of Big Bazars,where in Rs.1 ,not available or not returned and by virtue of this practice an un accounted money/black money yo the tunes of few crores is created in the chains of Big Bazars,then there are so many others are in similar practice.Has this issue been taken up or can it be taken up by some expert with competitive authorities? more

Dear Prof Umesh Kumar Ji, It is the recent development and has been just launched. It will take some time to stabilise and look for the desired statistics. The earlier it was being handled by ASCI and since it was a industry body itself and was being financed by the industry wone can imagine the success rate. I am also not too much optimistic about the latest introduction as Govt itself could not ban or block the website of EMIFREECAR.COM which has been proved beyond doubt that the domain itself is misleading. Dr. Batra's and Sensodyne toothpaste all are violating the code of advertisement without any check. Anyways there is no wrong in keeping up the optimism. more
