This is not difficult to do. The actual seat allotment should be done with Chart Preparation. The seat message can be conveyed by SMS e mail etc. or the chart at the station. more

You are right we have experienced this ourselves. When we ask the TT to help us he says you please adjust amongst yourselves. The least they can do is be helpful. more

Reservation for Senior Citizen - It may be the policy of Railways to allot lower berths to Sr.Citizens. In reality this rarely happens. Sr.Citzen are allotted upper births and much younger passengers occupy lower births. Yes the younger passenger may have booked it earlier, but the spirit of allotting lower births to Sr.Citizen is lost. Many a times we find persons in their 70s struggling to climb to top births, specially women. Since every E.ticket is booked after obtaining the passengers Telephone number and address, it would be appropriate to allot the lower berths reserved by these younger people to Sr.Citizen and inform the younger people of change in their berth numbers by way of SMS. This should be done automatically so that the spirit of honouring the Sr.Citizens is not lost. It would be kind of authorities to consider this proposal. Jai Hind more
