The problem faced by you is becoming rampant with real estate boom, where the big speculators buy large chunks of agricultural land to make windfall profits by parceling it off as small residential plots with the connivance of the local and district-level revenue officials and blessings of politicians. Agricultural land is being re-designated in to residential or industrial categories at an alarming rate to benefit vested interests. The consequences are far reaching for we have a vast population to be fed. At this rate at which agricultural land is being converted to concrete jungles, India may soon resort to import of even rice to meet everyday needs.
Please bring this to the attention of the VAO, Tashildar, other Revenue Department officials and politicians of the hardships faced by people like you to access your farms and in getting water to irrigate your crops.
Also, highlight this plight to local media-especially the Tamil language media in print and electronic versions.
Await the formation of the new, responsible government at the Centre soon to address these pressing demands of the farmers and rural people. more
