While the consumers might have been taking up their complaints and there may not have been encouraging responses from the concerned authorities, however as a consumer it is our utmost responsibility not to keep quiet on unfair business practices of the retailers. Any one unchecked incident of violation must be creating at least 20 more violators.
I just propose to volunteer as a consumer activist:
1. that let all the consumers who are feeling being deceived by the unfair business practices of the retailers may kindly raise their complaint by email to the respective retailer with a copy of the complaint to an email mrp.complaint@gmail.com The complaint should clearly seek refund of the excess amount so charged by the retailers. In case you get notice of such unfair business at the counter, I suggest not to argue with the counter boy and spoil your shopping enjoyment. Please ask softly the email id where you can submit your grievance.
2. The attachment to the complaint may include scanned copy of the invoice, scanned copy of the product tag with MRP, copy or photo of any advertisement/display indicating the discount sales.
3. The next mail may be sent as a reminder with an additional copy to the concerned State Controller of Legal Metrology.
4. Another reminders would always be preferable to give a very fair chance to the retailers indicating in absence of non-receipt of the excess amount so charged by adapting to unfair business practices, you will have no other option but to take up legal remedies at the risk and cost of the retailers.
All such email complaints just wont cost you in terms of the money but your valueable time spent on the issue could bring a respite to crores and crores of consumers as otherwise the menace of unprofessional business shall continue unabated. I am already in the process of exploring the possibility of filing a class action suit against the business retailers. Much would depend upon the support I shall be receiving from the members in terms of the complaints. Otherwise as a consumer I can always file an individual complaint in the District Consumer Forum or even succeed in getting refund from the retailers without approach to the consumer forum. I have already received refunds from few but the issue of such unprofessionalism shall continue to prevail and there is a need to check on it. While on above, I would be delighted to have inputs/advise from the learned communities more
