There is no MRP in foreign countries. Each shop displays the prices on the shelves, not on each product. If you go to USA, and return with items without MRP, it cannot be stopped at customs more

A responsible consumer is not supposed to buy smuggled goods.It is against nation's interest. To insist on MRP on them is not wise. If we could enforce MRP on them, we could as well stop their entryto our country or make them pay customs duty. more

Mr Tapas: Banks are involved only in seeing that the documents presented for payment are as per the order given in the Letter of Credit (which is what i think you mean). they are no way concerned with the cost or quality of goods imported or exported. This is the Rules under the Uniform Customs and Practices of Documentary Credits (UCP) adhered to by all countries, and is issued by the International Chamber of Commerce. I have been with ICC India in New Delhi from 1975 to 1993, and then with the second Indian President of the International Chamber of Commerce, Mr Hari Shankar Singhania. Banks are concerned, says Rule 1, are concerned only with the documents presented and NOT with the goods underlying it. This is exact determination given. more
