I was told by a senior RPF official, in a public forum, stating, that the RPF is there only to protect RAILWAY PROPERTY. The GRP, is to take care of these, only when , a complaint is made, through SMS, etc. This means, that the poor Railway passenger, is without protection. more

Railways should take immediate action on this. What are they going to protect Railway property in running trains? The compartments?! more

The Railway Protection Force is for taking care of Railway and its passengers, only a person of higher rank is not available to take action on RPF staff. more

As far as my understanding is: RPF is a RAILWAYS department and responsible for protection of Railway property. GRP is a part of STATE police posted at Railway stations for Law and Order which includes security of passengers and their luggage. General public is generally not aware of their duties and function, and their administrative control. Hence the confusion. more
