The Aam Aadmi Party questions the mysterious silence of the BJP and the Congress on the DERC decision of not hiking electricity tariffs in Delhi for this financial year, and challenges them to make their stand public on this crucial issue.
The AAP views with some satisfaction the DERC decision of keeping the electricity tariffs unchanged, but the party firmly believes there is a justified case for reduction in electricity tariffs.
The party will keep fighting till the tariffs are lowered, which should become a reality once the CAG report is finalised.
The AAP demands that Delhi government should move the High Court and seek finalization of the CAG report at the earliest.
Though the Congress and BJP, which were very much a part of the loot by the private power distribution companies (DISCOMS) for more than a decade have now been rendered irrelevant by the voters of Delhi, but their mysterious silence shows they have still not stopped their collaboration with DISCOMS.
AAP was the only party which attended the public hearing of DERC on tariff petitions of the DISCOMS in August. Atleast 15 MLAs personally attended the DERC hearing and strongly opposed any tariff hike.
The party would like to know from the BJP and Congress, why they did not deem it proper to attend the public hearings of the DERC ?
Ever since electricity distribution was privatized in 2002-03 people of Delhi were regularly cheated by these two parties.
False statements used to be given that CAG audit of DISCOMS cannot be done since High Court had put a stay, which was later found to be utterly false.
DISCOMS were given a free run and their petitions to hike electricity tariffs used to go unchallenged till now.
Signal is now loud and clear that state of affairs has changed in the national capital.
Comment by someone: Great achievement Arvind. Keep exposing BJP & Congress and let them fizzle out in oblivion of corruption more
