Your points and views are highly appreciable. The authorities do not look into the practical problems faced by the citizens. I am a senior person of 67 years and a pensioner. My pension is around 23 K and they deduct TDS at source from the pension. Not only that I have few deposits and the bank wants that I should submit a form for each deposit. For that I had to go to bank almost 4 times, since the form is accessible only to the bank manager. I had to come from almost 6 KMs away and I had to spent at least Rs.130/- for auto both the ways and other problems as I have knee injury on both legs that occurred while in service attributable to service reasons. Two times although the manager was available and give a print request I could not get the document as the printer was not responding. There are around 50 staff, 20 PCs and 6 printers and a computer department. Out of 6 printer they could not take a print out so you can just imagine the efficiency of the organization. It is the duty of the computer department to connect parallel all printers and to print from any station after giving a command. But the systems are just running and no one takes interest and like me person has to travel number of times. Either they should change the present system or they can incorporate a system with the bank that as and when a person approach for filling such forms the individual can fill on line or a bio metric system is introduced through which every person can enter their details and information. Otherwise this process is merely wastage and keeping unwanted papers in the file to stack in the cupboard. more

#RANABIR GHOSH (Mechanical Engineer with 36 years' wxperience in heavy enginneering.). Where did I say that banks are epitome of good behaviour. I had only suggested what needs to be done. I had saih, "Actually, this form should be available on the net and at all bank branches. Just pick up the form at any branch and mail it to the relevant bank branch after filling and signing it. The signature are already available with the bank to verify. There need not be any requirement to travel to the branch in person." I fail to understand what point you are trying to make. more

I wish Mr. Devesh Saxena (past Gen Secretary) would come to Calcutta (there may be many other places throughout India) and try to do it with some Nationalised Banks (particularly reputed for their notoriety) and see the result for himself. I can give many examples of their callousness and casual approach to their duty for which they are paid for. Even their retired colleagues are prey to this kind of apathy. more

It is unfortunate that many senior citizens dont even understand the rights they deserve from a country which has taken their whole lives contributions in nation building. NaMo government has done precious little and hope this subject is given due priority by the government in this years budget.Otherwise we must make it a mass movement to force the insensitive government to give top priority to the senior citizens for decent, respectable living. more
