There is a urgent need for regulating unauthorized hawking in Indian Railways. It is true that hawkers are selling prohibited items and unhygienic food specially in the platforms and coaches, which becomes a safety hazard .The RPF /GRP, Railway staff on station duty are mainly held responsible for their entry in the platforms and on running trains it is the joint duty of traveling railway staff along with on duty RPF /GRP . In running trains they should enforce this strictly and they are mainly held responsible for their entry in the trains. more

Passenger information system in the trains must be improved. Electronic information display about the location and right-time/delay status must be incorporated initially at least in all Super-fast trains more

Not only in Railways but everywhere howkers must be regularised. They must be with some organization may be NGO or some contractors firm. They must be given the advantages of ESIS and other social securities. At the same time antisocial elements entering in rail in the name of hawkers must be checked out. They must be provided with an authentic Identity card and uniform for their proper recognition (like coolies in railways) and this will further protect them from corrupt policewalas and other antisocial elements. this will also result in better service to passengers.
