The telecom companies are to be penalised in case the telephone remains dead for more than 3 days despite registration of complaint. There is a general feedback that MTNL Delhi and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) have been updating the complaint resolved in 3 days even if the same has not been attended to possibly just to avoid penalty. What is your view on such practices and whether these companies are resolving such complaints within 3 days of the registration of the complaints? Your views and feedback with specific instances if any will enable me to take up the issue with concerned authorities. more

Referring to comments of Ms. Neeru Sood, Please ensure following penalties are imposed on the MTNL/BSNL: Phone dead in a month Penalty more than 3 days 7 days rental more than 7 days 15 days rental more than 15 days Full month rental Henceforth, please keep a record with details of the complaint no and the date when it was brought to working condition. I can assure you that if you ensure penalty once or say twice, the problem will become history. In case you feel difficulty please mail me the details on my email id. I will take up your case with MTNL/BSNL. I appeal to other members if they can mention the telephone number with STD code in their comments as I am planning to take up the matter with the concerned authorities. For that matter even someone has faced similar problem with the private operator the same may be stated in the same post. more

This practice is not limited t MTNL or BSNL but all telecom companies in India for landline, mobile phone and internet services. After receiving a sms assuring resolving the complaint within 3-5 days, one should re-book the complaint on last day or a day prior. If the same practice is adopted next time, the customer should report the matter in writing preferably by mail to DOT and TRAI. more

Our office landline number of MTNL was not working. We lodged a complaint. No action was taken by MTNL. I talked to their customer service and they gave another phone number for lodging complaint. After complaint being lodged by us, we got a phone call from MTNL inquiring whether phone became okay or not. We told them it is still dead. Next day we got e-mail that a lady from our office confirmed that the phone was okay and they claimed that the complaint has been resolved. We were surprised as WE DO NOT HAVE ANY LADY STAFF IN OUR OFFICE!!! The phone was still dead. After some time, it became okay. more
