Hi I need some legal advice. Can a NRI give GPA on plain paper duly attested by Notary residing in US/Canada.
Or he has to come to India for buying stamp paper and get it registered and signed in front of magistrate in sub-registrar office?
Or what is other procedure to sell property in haryana? Can I sell on GPA??Please reply asap. more

And yes you will be required to get the GPA registered with the Registrars in India, before using it. Care should be taken to get it registered within 90 days from the date of notating. more

My son in US has given me GPA which was typed on plain paper and got it notarised by local Notary Public in his city of residence. No need to go to Indian embassy for this. I have successfully executed the GPA for registering the property on behalf of my son. However care should be taken to obtain the draft of GPA from the authorities where GPA is to be used. Hope you find this usefull. more

Tell your lawyer of your purpose of the GPA (like selling property,e tc) and he will draft accordingly. more

I am from Singapore and I got my mother to do a Power of attorney by a lawyer & got it attested by the Indian High Comm in Singapore. I am not required to do on stamp paper as the Indian high comm stamp is sufficient. Suggest you take Q from your nearest Indian high comm and get a lawyer who is familiar with Indian format & will draft a GPA in line with Indian norms. more

Mukesh Ji , it is very simple process , u get the POA prepared on a pllain paper n get it signed by Notary in the country of applicant ( Indian Embassy in most cases ). This document is sent to India where it has to be registered with Sub Registrar , Now the POA is ready to b used . I had prepared a POA in this fashion few years back ,hope there is no change to rules ,....... Col Grover more
