Unfair practice
As per the Extant rules a wait-listed person cannot board the train and a refund will be given automatically. The catch is some 30% is deducted and only the balance will be given. A wait-listed ticket cannot be treated as invalid, simply because his name is not in the chart. He should be allowed to travel in general compartment if he wishes so.By buying another ticket, when he holds a ticket, is unfair and an additional financial burden to him.The money he gets as refund is after deducting a staggering 30%, which evern Airlines does not do.Mr Suresh Prabhu needs to look into the misery of wait-listed passengers. more

Railways should stop Sunday time tables on Public holidays. As this create utter confusion to comuters who are not been given public holidays. This holidays is only for Government/ Bank staff not for public. Railways should not act as Public holidays and there are many of the trains gets cancelled such as Thane trains not on Sundays. Most of the families are suffer by running trains as per Sunday timetable. more
Wait listed ticket not confirmed should get full refund. Also the time bound cancellation of such tickets with in 24hrs etc should be scrapped. May be an additional coach itself should be added for such wait listed passengers who were not confirmed. The Idea of a chair car facility in both AC & Non AC in all trains will be a very good idea , even in long distance trains as atleast seating in push back chairs like in buses will help all the unplanned, urgent passengers & they can definitely manage when international flights of 20 /24 hrs is on. this option for WL passengers not confirmed being given an additional option will be very beneficial in the long run also . The tickets can be a little less than sleeper class or AC sleeper fares & will definitely get a lot more passengers who are not taking the unsafe private buses , as they have no alternative. more
Railway must Charge wait Listed Tickets at ordinary Ticket Rates and when Ticket is confirmed or RAC then TTE can collect the difference of fare. In the Ticket Railway must mention following "THIS IS NOT VALID FOR TRAVEL IN RESERVED COMPARTMENT UNLESS IT IS UPGRADED TO CONFIRM/RAC" This will save money of passengers and also they will not be treated as Tresspassers in Reserved coaches more
The unnecessary reservations quota kept till last moment should be scraped and wait listing should be minimized to harass the passenger. more
