Dear Group Mrembers, It has been noticed that the newspaper vendors are charging prices much more than what they are supposed to charge at the printed price of the newspaper. Such excess amount ranges from Rs. 40-70 per month per customer for those who buy a single newspaper. On an average the newspaper caters to some 2500 to 3000 customer and in such a scenario, his unethical earning from such excess charges come to about Rs. 2.00 Lakhs per month. This is over and above what those agencies are being paid as commission.

As per rules, no item can be sold more than the printed price which is MRP and MRP is inclusive of all including vendor margin and service charges. Such practices keep on going as every customer feels that he is being cheated by only some Rs. 40 to 70 per month. Even most of the customers are not aware that they are paying excess amount than what is payable. Most of the customers also must be feeling compelled to pay excess amount finding no other alternative. To address such feeling of the customers, I suggest and in fact I need cooperation of all members in the following manner from each member of this group:

1. Please take bill from the vendor. You request gently without any arguments so as not to cause any harassment or awkward situation before your family. The bill should clearly state name of the newspaper edition, quantity and amount charged, name of the agency and address/T.No. etc.
2. The copy of the bill may please be scanned and emailed to me at my email id skvirmani@gmail.com I assure you that I will take up the matter with concerned government department whether in the States or the Central without bothering you in any way. I am quite confident of compelling the concerned authorities to look into the issue and address the problem by the govt. departments even if the newspaper agencies are required to be penalised. Please keep in view that your silence is facilitating them to earn unethical income ranging from Rs. 2.00 lakhs per month over and above what they are being paid as commission from the newspaper.
3. Please keep your RWA informed so that RWA can counsel those agencies in the first instance to discipline themselves.
