Dear Friends, There has been incidents of deaths among children in several parts of India by eating Litchi fruit.. Acute encephalitis syndrome ( AES ) in the last one week this mysterious disease has claimed 29 lives of Children in Bihar alone & more in Kolkata.. Pls pass this info to as many starting from ur family..
Please don't eat Litchi... it is spreading a virus which causes encephalopathy eventually causing death. 8 people have already died in Malda. Also inform others about this.

pooja ji, this was a news item in the national news paper and it has affected the children. Every crop of Litchi may not have been affected, it could have been from one particular region. The idea was to let members know of this and take precautions what ever possible. I have also been eating Litchi and fond of the same and nothing has happened to me as well. However, one should not ignore such news appearing in the media and protect their children more than any body else. I have also heard about the cabbage as source of some infection in the brain and am very cautious in taking cabbage only after proper washing and boiling after cutting, which can reduce the chances of survival of any such virus if present in the cabbage. One needs to know of such sources of infection in children and take precautions. I do not find any reason to believe that such news items are for commercial reasons - please think over about export of lithci which has a very short shelf life and export of cabbage which I have not seen outside India being exported from India except for some parts of Middle East countries. more
