Can some of my friends advise me the amount of stamp duty payable on transfer of a flat in my name to my son in East Delhi? In some states, there is no stamp duty levied on such transactions between close relatives but I am not sure about Delhi. Thanks in advance. more

My Dear Mr. Mohinder Bhatnagar, Only Relinquishment Deed will not be sufficient as you will also have to get a Will registered in favour of your dear son to avoid unnecessary harassment of your son. more

Thanks Rajesh Kumarji for your valuable advice. I shall certainly explore the option of relinquishment deed as suggested by you. As I am more into intellectual property law, I was not abreast of the options available under Transfer of Property Act. I am sure your advice will benefit many others too. Thanks once again. more

Dear Mr. Bhatnagar, you are yourself an legal Advisor, so you know sir, there are mode of transfer. 8% is for sale deed. But I would suggest that in blood relation you should chose Relinquishment Deed so that you should not pay heavy Stamp Duty. It will be Rs 100. Thereafter your son can mutate the property in his name. Thanking more
