In terms of maintaining schedule, it is spot on

This train is the most important train between Delhi and Thiruvanthapuram, being a daily train.
This train travels around 51 hours to complete one journey.
One would therefore expect that the bogies would be in a better shape to take the rigours of the daily travels with the minimum maintenance the train is allowed to have.
The coaches are very old, rickety, with the bathrooms leaking and full of patchwork and with poor maintenance.
In its entire journey to Thiruvanathapuram, water is filled only at one place Vijayawada, with elementary cleaning of upper class coaches by the cleaning squad.
In two of my journeys there was fire caused by brakes which do not get detached after release. A potential hazard.
