Ahmedabad Police

traffic control on erring drivers (auto, two wheeler, tempos, buses, and taxis) at junction is absolutely hopeless. They are only catching the two wheeler for not wearing helmet. At junctions it is chaotic.

Ahmedabad Traffic Police is equal to Statue of Liberty. Stands still watching every thing at ease.

They don't have a clue about traffic management. They are on duty at points and yet no one bothers to follow traffic lights, people drive on the wrong side, people park on the 2nd and 3rd lanes on major roads, drivers are on cell phones. Where there is some attention being paid to traffic lights, waiting traffic has encroached into half the road that they are not to enter, left lanes are always blocked, drivers from the left lanes turn into the right turn and vice versa with the cops assistance instead of being forced to follow the lane that they are on. Is there anything more to say? Have you seen the traffic outside the RTO?

I AM SURPRISING TO SEE THAT WHEN THERE IS A EVENT THE ROAD BECOME CLEAR BY THE SAME COPS OTHERWISE ALL VENDORS ,TEMPO N GOODS BLOCK ROAD N THEY DONT MIND IN NORMAL DAYS SPECIALLY AROUND KALUPURGATE N PREM DARWAJA.MAY BE THEY NEGLECT THE PROBLEMS FOR SOME REASON .THERE SHOULD BE PERMENANT SOLUTION.

Strangely, the focus of Ahmedabad traffic police is not traffic violations that affect the traffic like jumping red light, unauthorized parking or driving on the wrong side of the road, they focus on overloading, not wearing seat-belt etc., that has little bearing on the traffic condition. In fact, stopping the vehicles for this kind of checking hinders the traffic flow. I do not know if they are acting on their own, or there is a mandate to this effect from the superior officers.
