My relatives mobile number was already verified, linked to Adhar and activated with a lifetime validity. The same number is also linked to multiple credit cards and bank accounts. As you have informed me, But he has left for US and could not recharge at regular interval, with the impression that the mobile is having life time validity.
Now Airtel has deactivate the service on the ground that in case of no usage, charges of Rs. 20/- per month are deducted from main accounts towards service extension for 30 days and due to insufficient balance, the amount could not be deducted and services were disconnected permanently. You may get the same number reactivated within grace period of 15 days from the date of disconnection by paying reactivation charge of Rs. 20/- at airtel relationship Centre in Home circle. But on approaching the Airtel, we could not get any relief. They demand Physical presence of the customer is mandatory in order to reactivate the same number.

The lifetime service assurance at the time of taking the SIM is no longer in vogue. Why ????

No concistency in their service. Life time validity has been withdrawn without public notice.

Not transparent service. They charge from your account by providing unwanted services. The life time service has been withdrawn without providing notice to the consumers and more particularly for those who purchased the SIM in India and at present staying in other Countries. On return, they found the service is not available and on approaching the company, they express their inability to allot the same number on payment of additional charges.
