Had bought items through Amazon, it is really amazing, everything, in order, professional handling, though at times prices are a bit more than other ecommerce portals in respect of certain electronic items.

Fan of amazon since 2001 (USA) and continue to be in India. Seamless transition from US store to Indian store.
However Amazon needs to do a better job of ensuring that their vendors in India are following consumer affairs guidlines.
Recently ordered Lavazza coffee via Amazon with invoice value of INR 748 only to receive a shipment from istoredirect with MRP printed as INR 600.
Rule 18(2) of the legal metrology (packaged commodities) says, “No retail dealer or other person including manufacturer, packer, importer and wholesale dealer shall make any sale of any commodity in packed form at a price exceeding the retail sale price thereof.”
If the extra charge would have been identified as a service fee, the consumer can then decide whether to accept that or not order the product.
