If one forgets to pay the electricity bill in time the APEPDCL disconnects the power supply without prior notice. The possible date of disconnection written on the bill is only an indicative date. Hence, a notice must be served giving at least 7 days to pay the arrears. In no civilised / developed country, do the power suppliers behave in such a crude and uncivilised manner. If they do, they will be thrown out of business. Secondly, after charging Rs 75/= as "Re-connection Charge" they are NOT sending the electrician to restore the power supply. They are telling," Do it yourself" ! Then why charge Rs 75? Thirdly, if any patient is at home undergoing kidney dialysis, or suffering from serious heart problem the sudden disconnection of power can lead to death of the seriously sick patient at one's home.Hence, at 7 days clear NOTICE must be given for paying the arrears. After all, nobody is going to vanish overnight and not pay the bill. It is just that due to forgetfulness, one forgets to pay the bill.
