Lesson-1 to be implemented across all units of Traffic Police. Pl do not allow heavy & slow moving vehicles to occupy the fast lane and middle lanes on the road. They should only go through the left most lane. Buses while carrying passengers may be exempted from this rule. If the cops can implement this rule, there will be good reduction of congestion on the roads.
The next step to decongest is to allow free left turn in all signals except during pedestrian crossing.

My observations on Bangalore traffic:
1. Heavy vehicles / slow moving tractors & cranes should not come into right most lane. Violation almost 100%. No action from Police
2. Free left turn. Should be encouraged to de-congest intersections. Instead, police use it as a trap to fine motorists who take a left turn when it is free without causing any hindrance to others. Vehicles who occupy this free left lane and wait for going straight or right are not fined for occupying the wrong lane! Can you get more foolish than this?
3. At roundabouts & circles, one can enter the circle only if there is no vehicle already inside coming from your right. It is NOT followed anywhere in Bangalore. The signboard "GIVE WAY TO TRAFFIC FROM RIGHT" is totally absent in roundabouts & circles. The cops themselves are not aware of it!
4. Vehicles standing on right lane and not moving when right turn signal is on (because they want to go straight) disrupting other vehicles which want to go right must be forced to take the right turn by cops standing at intersection. Similarly vehicles standing on left lane and not taking the left turn should be forced to take the left turn. This will automatically make motorists adhere to lane discipline. But surprisingly our police is not trained to implement such a simple rule.
Super service. Bangalore Police ki Jai !

All the traffic police does nowadays, is cause more traffic jams rather than clear them. I have noticed roads running as smooth as butter during peak hours without a traffic cop being around, but the moment the come, they create a jam which they cannot even clear for much more than an hour. And i am seeing this after noticing it with my own eyes. And the fact that they are allowed to change signals as per their whims and fancies is not right. This control should be taken away from them and given only to a traffic control room. These guys are misusing the priveleges that they get. They tell us about it not being right to have tints on the windows of out cars, yet they roam around with it; they tell us to wear helmets and ride, yet they are too cool to wear it themselves; they preach to us not to use mobiles while driving, yet they use it whîle working, walking, driving, crossing roads, riding.... WOW!! Is this how they have been trained!? They use their flashing lights and sirens to get out of traffic and do what!? Go to the tea shop or run home early... they don't give a hoot about the traffic in front of them or behind them. They don't care for signals, they don't care for one ways, they don't care for rules. Who is gonna question the so called "Governing Authourity" if you question them, they get defensive and start shouting at you saying that you are at fault that too when a hundred people have seen what those A$$holes are doing. WHo is gonna do something about that!? Why isn't the so called "Commisioner" looking into any of this and train the ignorant fools... teach them to practice what they preach. They want to do random checks on bikes and cars, go ahead, no one is stopping you from doing it, but does that mean u leap in front of a moving car or bike and hit the bike rider with a stick to make him stop!? What are we!? So criminals escaping the "LONG HANDS OF THE LAW"?
i can't blame the traffic police for all the traffic maladies we've in Bangalore. i'd blame on PWD, irrational drivers, CM himself for this mess for not focusing adequately on infrastructure. If anything, i'd highlight couple of traffic police who're doing pretty good job. One lady police who handles the high pressure Graphite Signal junction in the mornings (blue trousers + white shirt) and another male police officer who handles the high pressure Total Mall signal, Mahadevpura, Outer ring road (wearing big glasses). Both could be found commandeering the traffic very well in the busy mornings.
Bangalore police is totally ineffective. Either they are from Traffic or Law & Order, they remain as silent spectators and interested only in getting their " Mamool" . They are very good in doing post-mortem rather than prevention. It is the status of entire country police set up.

The city traffic police is highly inefficient excepting collecting the bribes. They never bothered to ensure traffic discipline and people use to go in the wrong way & park the vehicles in No parking area. The pavements are fully encroached by hawkers and police is just a silent spectator.

Bangalore Traffic Police is ineffective to catch the defaulters. Even if they come across a rider not wearing helmet or going in the wrong way, the cop is interested to collect only bribe. That is why there is no disciplined traffic in the city. If the traffic defaulters are punished as per law, we can definitely expect improvement and pedestrian safety will become better. Will they do?
