I would rate Bangalore police is doing average. All efforts are needed to enhance the police force and ensure that they are manned at all crucial junctions. Breaking of rules by the commuters is rampant, especially by the traffic signals. Police have to deal with such issues sternly. Especially with the auto rickshaw drivers who just do not respect the traffic regulations. I have seen police turning a blind eye to them.
Compared to the police personnel in north India, the police in Bangalore are angels. They need better linguistic skills. Most of them at constable level can speak comfortably only in Kannada. Even at station house officer level, they are not comfortable with Hindi or English. It is a given fact that Bangalore is a cosmopolitan city with very large presence of migrant population. They are not going to go away an soon. In fact, such people face problems of crime more often than local people. Therefore, the Bangalore Police must ensure that in every station there are at least two to three constables or officers who can comfortably speak Hindi and English.
Both home ministry and Police Dept are acting like a typical Govt mechinery. Go through daily activity, make some comments, do some routines and do not be seriously concerned about good adminsitration, efficient actions and provide a clean and strong leadership. This is what citizens want and this is for what we have elected reps and bureaucrats are working and paid for. But this is not happening. Police and law and order should never be clubbed with politicians and those in power temporarily. It will end up like this only.
