The major problem with BESCOM is that they cut-off the power supply even when there is slight drizzle. There are frequent load-sheddings during summers too. The transformers used by the SEB to distribute power are either outdated or not maintained properly. Whenever it rains, there are instances of transformers giving out sparks and bursting. The contact centre is pathetic. Most of the times, the call centre number is busy and when the call is answered, the agents are not aware of the problem. It is high time the Board pulls up its socks and start working efficiently.
The Bescom's one major problem appears to be disruption of supplies during heavy rains and storms. Jelly filled high tension underground cable is available in the country for almost 60 years. But the SEB' s priority was to install overhead distribution lines, because the cities were not so crowded at that time. Now they need to put massive efforts to lay underground power cables across the cities. Another major deficiency of Bescom is its poor customer contact centers. It is impossible to get through the customer care number when someone needs it desperately . The automated voice reply will give another number where one is advised to send an SMS and BESCOM is supposed to send an SMS reply. But no reply ever comes. As a result BESCOM customer never knows whether his complaint is registered or when the service will be restored

Bescom staff never respond in time for either emergency or attending fault. They always look for money putting us in doubt whether Bescom is paying salary or the staff need to earn their income by forcing the customers to take care of them. It is high time that Bescom is to be privatised since the government is incapable of curbing the bribes at all levels.
The situation is exteremly pathetic. The current may be gone for several hours at a stretch and one never even knows when it will be restored.Any calls to customer service are not picked up.The visit to the Office also does not result in any kind of answer.Total Uncertainty about everything including supply.
