Law and order in Kolkata is at an abysmally low level. Kolkata is full of syndicates and tolabajis.

people of kolkata will forget , they are living in India. so they demand more & more.... & that without sacrifice of drop.!! Most selfish / unsocial persons are there a lot. they through garbage from home, they can not maintain local / near by road side free flow/ wastage of water etc..., they can not do so many things... but will demand like citizen of Europe !!.

If law and order means only traffic problem, then in my area which is very near Gariahat Road and Rash Behari Avenue junction, is mainly hawkers. They result in pedestrians to walk on the carriage way causing traffic problems including unruly auto and bus drivers who seem to care nobody, not even police because they have blessings of some political dada. Because of this the police are also reluctant to or incapable of taking necessary action.
I feel the common citizens who are inconvenienced by hawkers are also equally to be blamed for the menace since they buy from them. If there were no buyers the hawker menace would have automatically solved.
Also the passengers of auto and buses are also equally to be blamed for these modes of transport breaking traffic rules, stop in the middle of the road to pickup passengers, do not bother to stop only at designated Bus Stops.
Other law and order problems like theft, snatching, eve teasing, are there to which can be improved, but these are less compared to certain other areas of Kolkata, where bikers go without helmet as a rule, drive dangerously, have little respect for women, no respect or sympathy for senior or handicapped citizens.
There are lots of scope for improvement. But that can only happen when political pressure is removed from the head of police force and a minimum civic sense and traffic rules are instilled into the minds of common people.

Green Police never control the traffic pressure. The great example is salt lake sec- 5 area. Other area of salt lake filling good at present. But question is if the traffic pressure increase like kolkata city, are you able for control that pressure.
