BSNL does not have the Market Dynamics to compete in these of Tech revolution where the Telecom companies survive by their proactive response to Tech changes and Market changes. BSNL, with its typical Lethargy and customer indifference will only lose out in this scenario in the long run. If the Govt. of India wishes to keep up its involvement in this sphere in persuance of its Social Objectives, it would do well to concentrate on Rural Markets only and leave the more Dynamic Urban Markets to the private Telecom Operators. HENCE, GOVT. OF INDIA WOULD DO WELL TO WIND UP BSNL AND MTNL AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE AND RELOCATE THEIR STAFF TO MAN RURAL LOCATIONS. THE PRIME REAL ESTATE OCCUPIED BY BSNL IN URBAN CITIES COULD BE ENCASHED TO FUND ITS FAR REACHING TOTAL COVER OF RURAL MARKETS. THIS WOULD ALSO HASTEN THE GOVT.S MISSION OF TOTAL AND COMPLETE BB IN ALL RURAL TOWNS AND MARKETS OF INDIA AND HELP COMPLETE DIGITAL INDIA SET UP.
We are located in the Mylapore area of Chennai and are covered by the LUZ exchange of BSNL. I have rarely had trouble with BSNL landline or BB. Even if I do get a problem the Luz Exchange people handle it promptly and save me from ' Downtime '. However, I did have great problem about signals for my BSNL mobile and I have since shifted to Airtel. I wish BB of BSNL do increase the Net Speed of their BB as they are PATHETIC and HANG OFTEN....!!!....( ramamani : 044 2499 4757 )

BSNL have a Govt. mind set and take umbrage under the "private sector - public sector" difficulties when it comes to improving their output. In fact, I had to compulsorily shift out of BSNL to Airtel for my mobile phone since the ' tower signal' was available from only one corner of my flat although we do have BSNL tower right in our colony. Again for Data
the speed drops down suddenly without reason and quality of 'talk' over what sap or FaceTime is VERY VERY POOR.

BSNL has its own limitations when it comes to compete with the private players in terms of proactive policies, customer grievance handling, hardware purchases, future planning, tariff etc etc. Whereas the private player does not have to respond to anybody for concessions to consumers, BSNL have to go through the rigmarole of responding to various powers and scrutiny.
