I had applied for a BSNL connection & internet connection in 2007 and got the same within 1 month of my application. I had applied for Rs 750/- plan wherein I was promised free modem rental. Unluckly , the modem ( an old used modem ) was supplied to me at the time of the new connection - I was told that it is working fine & if it develops any defects, they will replace the same.
As bad luck may have it, the modem developed defects ( the switch does not work ) within 2 years. On complaining against the same, I was asked to take it to Sector 16 Office. There , to my utter surprise, they told me that they cannot replace the modem & I must apply for a new modem , which was ultimately issued to me. They started to charge Rs. 90 / rental for the same. When I complained, I was asked to go to Sector 15 Office and get the same rectified from there. After repeated trips , they accepted their mistake & the rentals were stopped. Suddenly some time I was told that the Rental has increased to Rs. 900/- and to my surprise, Rs. 90/- is being charged as rental thereafter. Repeated visits to Sector 15 office have gone a waste. They have not been able to show me the Notification wherein my Rental was increased & rent free modem facility withdrawn. Also most of the time the speed is very slow - the standard answer is - Bangalore se speed kum aah rahi hai , hum kya karen - ( the speed is slow from Bangalore, what can we do ) They charge us for 2MB speed, but we hardly get 512 kbps speed. I have been asking for a WiFi modem ( the rental is the same ie Rs. 90/- for it also ) but since last 3 years it is out of stock. With this type of service they want to have a DIGITAL INDIA. They must change the staff from top to bottom who still have the SARKARI mentality before BSNL can improve
