BSNL - Kolkata

BSNL / Calcutta Telephones was the only mode of communications sometime past. It's employee's were recruited mostly through non-competitive process, resulting in in-efficiency at every level from line-man to Chief General Manager. As their salary are guaranteed, none can motivate them to work. In alternative, because of bad policies of TRAI, every TELCO's are cheating customers by one way or other. There is no escape. Hope current PM can improve this situation by ruthless no-nonsence ruthless measures, which Rahul Gandhi / Congress Party will oppose.

Last couple of days the connection is poor, getting disconnected frequently for several minutes.

I had taken post paid mobile connection no.9431812051 at Chhapra, Bihar on 24.08.2006 after deposit of security deposit of Rs.2000.00 and subsequently surrendered the same at the end of the year 2009 on my transfer to Guwahati but despite several letters to BSNL and letters directly to Mr. Anupam Shrivastava, CMD, BSNL did not yield any result. Even not a single letter has not yet been acknowledged what to talk of refund of money. Even my mail to Customer Service went unatttended.

The connectivity speed is almost always slow.It remains less than 1.75 always against 4 MBPS. No body in BSNL to do any thing.

BSNL connection is reasonably OK when and if you are lucky. My personal experience has so far been satisfactory in Salt Lake, but my friends and relatives have very different experience in different parts of Kolkata. Many had to switch over to other Internet Service Providers. However, I did not like their attitude to customers who had a contractual agreement to use hired BB Modem w.r.t sudden unconditional and unethical rental increase from Rs. 40 to Rs. 110 per month. At that point, I had to surrender their Modem unit and purchased a D-Link unit from the market, which is giving satisfactory service. I have now recovered my purchase cost of Modem.

I have been using BB for many years but had to come off because of poor services. BB Modem was bad but BSNL had no unit and was advised to buy from market though we were on modem hire basis. Hardly any on sight service in BB
