The current issues are: 1) consistent supply - irrespective of the inflows from Cauvery - require min. of 30 minutes and max of 90 minutes EVERY day, as opposed to 3 days dry, 2 days off-and-on and 2 days of overflow, when supply is for 16-20 hours non-stop; 2) Remove the need for the corrupt 'lineman' and regulate the supply from the storage point. The above point # (1) is the wrongdoing of this person called lineman who either meddles with the gate valves or forgets to both open and shut the valves; 3) use latest technology like sonography to determine the illegal connections (both water & sewage) and mercilessly remove them, as there are countless such connections which is a revenue leakage and for water supply, the cause for metered customers not getting their share of water everyday. Similarly, change the water meters immediately when the consumption shows an abrupt change - this also is a reason for poor collection; 4) like in power supply, water supply too has T&D (Transmission and Distribution) losses, which if attended to immediately, will save more than the revenue loss the loss of a precious resource called drinking water.
