Chandigarh Municipal Corporation

The MCC is virtually a non functional entity and burden on the exchequer. Cleanliness,
upkeep of parks/street lights is rarely done. A mess has been created in collection of
property tax. Corruption and lethargicness are salient features of MCC which is not
accountable to anybody.

Even though municipal sweepers are hired and paid for 8 hours worth of work each day, most do not work for more than 2-3 hours in the morning. A lot of them also have other jobs that they go to after finishing sweeping their assigned area. There have been instances of full-time sweepers sub-contracting out their jobs to other people while they collect their pay, share with their 'sub-contractor' and work at other jobs. On top of that, there are constant complaints that they do not have enough manpower to get things done! If entities such as municipalities are controlled to become more efficient in their use of manpower to do the work that they are actually expected to do, and given additional technology to make their work easier, the Swachh Bharat movement will automatically become successful.

The Municipal corporation, Chandigarh must clean up the park in ,Sector-19D,along Udyog Path. The residents have made an effort, but the leaves are not picked up by them.
