One of the worst part of Chandigarh. Many accidents happened in past and many person gave their life. Even separate land allotted for animals, still public in Colonies keep animals in their home. In night they leave their pets free to move here and there on roads. Rule must be strict.
There is nothing called stray animal management, not just in Chandigarh, practically all over the country. All cattle owners / stray animals are totally free to roam the roads and streets un-challenged. They are not just nuisance value but cause of many serious accidents. I am personally aware of cases where people have died trying to avoid some animal in the last minute. The cows now seem to have been given greater freedom after BJP has come to power since no one dare to touch them or shoo them away. There is urgent need to control menace caused by stray dogs, cattle and monkeys. All that is required to be done is lift the ban/ restriction on killing them.
The law should be amended to kill stray dogs and moneys at the earliest. These animals have done immense harm to the residents and also to their crops. Many farmers have stopped ploughing their fields as the moneys eat out their produce every season. Many people get killed in accidents with stray cows on roads. There is no harm in exporting such unwanted animals who die of hunger/non availability of water.

The stray animals including dogs roam freely in the city. The dog bite cases have gone up considerably. The Municipal Coprn., Chandigarh is not taking concrete steps to end this menace.
The stray dog problem has not been addressed inspite of large number of people being bit by such animals. Even today, stray cows can be seen on city streets. The existing manpower needs to be used more efficiently to manage these issues.
