Allowing roadside vendors or at authorised places in Chandigarh is a lucrative bussiness for
MC staff and police. This will go on till the time harsh anti corruption laws are enacted and
implemented in a time bound manner. The business of suspension & reinstatement by the
Courts has to come to an end.

Street vendors should be issued licenses for a fee and given designated areas where they can ply their trade. This will remove the rampant issue of 'hafta' collections by MC officials for allowing vendors to work in unauthorized areas.
