Policing this Metropolitan city is enormous , and a difficult task , with the kind of quantity of people, flowing in and out on a daily basis . Keeping this in mind, and the kind of resources available at disposal, the job done by the police is exemplary.

India ranks 137th place in the list of Secure & Safe place. Only consolation is, we are a little better than Pakistan. If another list is prepared, within India which is safe city, probably Chennai will compete for the last place. Our Tamil Nadu Govt. itself is lawless and other political parties are no better. Corruption in recruitment for police, government schools, jobs, awarding contracts to govt projects, permission to set up industries is rampant. Welfare of people is forgotten. After paying lakhs to get a police job, we can't expect them to be devoted and honest In their duty. Further, recruitment to police and schools are done whenever govt faces election and not based on the sanctioned strength, with the result, the police is under pressure from work load and politicians to loot. Vehicle population is multiplying day by day, thefts, killings, are done in broad light, in front of people. Judiciary is corrupt, taking 20 years to close a case, ultimately giving clean chit to convicts, adjourn hearing to suit lawyers and money received. Traffic offences are ignored since politicians are involved, police is used as a tool to harass opponents. Lawlessness in TN is wide spread.

Law and order is pathetic. Every day all sort of crimes are happening. Despite shortage of force, the available force is fully protecting politicians, for favourable postings, look after their cases on priority etc leaving behind public and their safety despite public is paying their salaryies, allowances etc. To add to the fuel, the public are instructed to go pillar to pillar wasting their energy and time but without resolution. There need to be discipline and to find ways and means of separating them from politicians.

Chennai Police force is marvel. With all the stress of short staffing and, political pressures the way it functions requires appreciation. Cribbing about the force dose not help.

Police is at the beck and call of the politicians many of whom are criminals and murderers. When a policeman is expected to protect such criminals how can their morale be maintained. Many so-called lawyers in TN have fake degrees and a large number of then are crooks. They think that they are above law. The police should be given the right to arrest any of these scum when they break the law. Policemen should be told that their real masters are the tax-paying public who deserve their consideration and help, not the criminals who govern our country and supposedly uphold the law.
