Chennai Police

City Law & Order police do some work. but inadequate considering the vast disturbances that prevail in the city. These police have stoped going regular beat in night time and Police Patrolling in car should be increased. Regular patrolling in the market area, Bazaar, worshiping centers, festive period, etc when larger people gather. Their duty needs to be improved.

In my area the Law and order is not so bad but a Private School by name Velammal H.S.M.School which is having 12000 students within an area of about 5 acres has seized the entire residential area around it. Daily about 40 or 50 school vans, 300 cars, 200 two wheedlers , are flooding the area along with above said student strength plus 500 staff,security strengh. They take away the control of Traffic from Local Police in all the roads around the school and junctions reaching near by. During the peak office hours the residents cannot take their vehicles from out of their roads (due to heavy traffic) and during evening hours all the streets nearby are illegally parked by the vehicles which are waiting to take their sons and daughters from the school. Due to vested interests and local officials are taken care of no complaints against the illegal parkings in T.S.Krishna Nagar 1st Main Road are taken cognizance. As the School authorities are powerful only top Police Officials could rescue the Residential area said above.

Need to improve a lot

Lot more can be done, but any govt.says, fund crunch. This is main problem in all states in our country. Further, many policemen are poorly paid, compared to their hard work and stress. More amenities needed for our police force, for a population of approx 6.5 crores.

In my opinion, we should not blame police, for all short comings around us. Just think their working condition, working hours and the salary paid to them. It has no semblance, what-so-ever. I always has a soft corner for the police force in Tamilnadu, whenever I see them controlling a crowd when some high level politicians pass through. They need lot of support from Govt,their high officials and above all from the public. They also need latest gadgets to do better. Apart all the above points, there are some black sheep in the police force also, that can not be avoided.

Compared to many oter places Chennai Law and order is good. But there is scope for improvement. I will currently rate at 4 on 5

Needs lot of improvement. Thugs are everywhere.
