It is neither appreciated nor an healthy trend for the Raman Singh government to increase the power tariff by 15 to 20% almost every year. Every time he takes the excuses that it is cheaper in Chhattisgarh in comparison to other states. When Chhattisgarh being surplus power generating state, its people deserve power at a cheaper price, there are other states in India where electricity is cheaper than Chhattisgarh. Since the price of the power being consumed by him is met from public exchequer, he does not feel the pain of common men of the state in paying any increased price unjustifiably. Instead, he should have tried to plug the loopholes through which a lion share of the state exchequer is looted by his employees including officers in connivance with the political leaders.

Earlier there was a system to notify in local news papers any schedule of power cut area-wise with timings, so that the citizens can get prepared by lifting water to their over head tanks and completing other important works not possible without power thus lessening its adverse affect much on domestic life. But now a days the State Electricity Boards have started to dictate their terms and doing whatever they like. At any point of time they simply switch off power supply to an entire area for hours without giving any notice and realising the amount of inconvenience to the consumers.
