Delhi Police

A lot can be done to manage & improve the traffic situation in Delhi.
Even small measures, if implemented, can go a long way in improving things, but alas nobody in authority seems to bother.
Numerous suggestions have been shared by members through this circle from time to time, but implementation & effective follow-up have not been up to the mark.

In Fact you can not say that there is any Traffic Management. I live in Paschim Vihar. One has to visit Jwala Heri Market to see what pathetic condition is there. Car Parking blocking half of the road on both sides. Adding to that there are Rickshaws and E Rickshaws blocking the road and even the Traffic Light intersection. It is even difficult to even walk through that area. One wonders if Traffic Police can not ensure that Rickshaws and E Rickshaws do not block road and Road Intersection , then what for we need them. You do not feel that any Traffic Police exists. It appears that they are there only to collect money from these Rickshaw pullers/ drivers and parking attendants. They are just a burden on Tax Payers Money .

In Fact You do not see any traffic management in Delhi. It is free for all. Drive the way you want, park wherever you want. If Delhi Police can not ensure that E Rickshaws and other Rickshaws do not block Roads , what can you expect. What to say of anything else. They all park their vehicles wherever they want, block crossings/ roads and our Police do nothing to remove them from there. This sends a very wrong message. The only thought comes to Mind is that you pay your daily/ hafta and Police will turn a blind eye. Unfortunately they are not accountable to public, who pay taxes for their Salary.

Traffic Management at Vikas Marg & Patparganj Road is absolutely pathetic. From Nirman Vihar Metro Station Red Light to Radhu Palace hardly one lane is available for commuters, rest of the lanes are either occupied by illegal parking or very horribly used by Gramin Seva Three Wheeler's who I believe are above from law. This is a proven fact that no one can control E-Rickshaw, Paddle Rickshaw and bikers who take it as a matter of pride to come from wrong side. I believe we need a very strict police officer to manage this highly disturbed situation.

DP always seems to be short staffed. Too may critical junctions choking the already full traffic problems' cauldron. Having said that we also must introspect and look for solutions within us. If WE start following all traffic rules ourselves, half of DTP work may get solved . Conscious citizens build a conscious society. No point blaming Traffic Police. Rules should not be followed for the fear of prosecution but because we feel they should be followed.

Discipline does not get any importance in the minds of Police Authorities. Disciplined police officials could easily bring the discipline to be followed by the citizens.

The Police officials either busy in going around to make arrangements facilitating so called VIPs or causing the hurdles for the Citizens instead of implementing the rules and regulations on one and all. Police officials target the citizens for collecting the funds only hiding themselves in the corners.

Traffic police has been completely a failure to ensure undue encroachments on the roads according to needs of traffic movements. My feel is that Traffic Police officials understand the job but they do not have courage to do it in an appropriate manner. I need not answer why as they know that, as well. Feedbacks about the road conditions either not extended by traffic police or not attended by the concerned authorities ultimately making the situations in the life miserable for those who bear the financial liability of all that. Government and Government Authorities are unlikely to appreciate the importance of the Citizens and play their designated role in an earnest manner.
