Working of Post Offices all over India, especially in Tamilnadu , is very poor and the supervision of the the G.M. of this circle is not effective. Lot of things have to be improved. The staff attendance and punctuality have to be monitored through Biometric attendance machines.Token machines must be made functional as many are out of order. The information machines /Touch machines in the PO are out of order. The forms issued to the customers are outdated and needs to be reviewed and reprinted to suite latest particulars that the GOI have ordered to be included. In the S.B. pass Book, MIS pass book vital informations have not been printed--for example date of expiry of deposit period, date of issue of deposit, whether nomination given or not, etc. In many case even date of birth is wrongly entered and when pointed out they simply brush aside the request for correction. We can compare the working of Post Office as computer desk with system working on buffalo cart. Computarisation has not improved the working quality of Post office. The customers are made to stand endlessly. No chairs etc for Senior citizens to take rest while waiting. Pensioners and elders are tossed from pillar to post for simple issue. The make elders to visit the PO again and again for simple reason. The staff are irresponsible and careless towards customers, especially elders. The have good understanding with PO Agents and help these persons only. The General Manager of each State Head quarters must visit HPOs and inspect and make HPO postmasters to inspect the post offices under their control periodically. Then only the condition will improve.

THE WORKING OF P.O. SHOULD BE RE -DESIGNED. THE EXISTING WORKING CONDITION IS VERY POOR DESPITE THE MODERN EQUIPMENT'S ARE PROVIDED. .TOKEN MACHINE NOT WORKING, INFORMATION PROVIDING MACHINE NOT WORKING, SUPERVISION IS VERY POOR. GENERALLY THE PO STAFF ARE OVER LOADED WITH WITH WORK AND AND UNABLE TO MANAGE..MODERNIZATION IS POOR. COMPUTER SYSTEM IS GENERALLY FOUND TO BE NOT WORKING DUE TO FAILURES ON MANY ACCOUNTS LIKE SYSTEM DOWN, POOR TRANSMISSION ETC. IT IS BETTER TO SEPARATE THE POST OFFICE SYSTEM AS 1) POSTAL COMMUNICATION WING AND 2) POST OFFICE BANKING WING WHICH WILL HANDLE ALL FINANCIAL AND INSURANCE MATTERS. THIS WILL EASE AND IMPROVE THE POSTAL DEPARTMENT
