Streets in our city are cleaned regularly. But the garbage collection is outsourced to a private agency who mix wet, dry, and other garbage even though we give him separately. And we have to pay a monthly fee to do this.
The roads and streets are not cleaned properly. There is no proper supervision of the workers. The workers lack sincerity in the discharging of their duties. The supervisor contact number and the persons names who are responsible for cleaning the particular area has to be prominently displayed so that the citizens can contact them about the need to clean. There is no control over the street vendors (particularly the green coconut vendors, tiffin centers, pan shops and fruit vendors occupy most of the usable portion of the road causing congestion at street corners and causing hindrance for easy movement of traffic. They are cause for most of the littering on the roads. Strict legislation like in Bankok, Singapore and other places where the vendors are expected to collect their waste in boxes and dispose them off when they leave. They are the cause for maximum usage of plastic, styrofoam and other non bio degradable stuff.
