Parking management is almost non-existent except in a few places. The private parking agencies and the police are making merry in this situation, while the drivers are put to major inconvenience.
Commercial establishments are to have provided free parking, but no one does. One complex even suggested that I cannot question their right to collect whatever parking charges they wish for.
Police do not help at all. their only goal seems to be to collect as much money as possible. They will even wait secretly for someone to park their vehicle and take their picture for challan. Bikes are towed away at random.
Policy should be defined which roads would be allowed for parking, and which not. Now it is arbitrary where even small bylanes have no parking signs, because someone in the neighborhood wanted to keep the place for themselves.
More public parking space in the form of the multi level parking at Abids should be taken. Unfortunately, even in the Abids parking lot, some floors are permanently occupied by govt vehicles and others.
I could say there is no parking management as most of the places we don't find space to park our vehicle. We face lot of problems especially when we go for interview in IT area, companies don't allow visitor vehicle and if we keep it on road, traffic police charge fines.
We always discuss about the parking problem on the city roads due to encroached pavements or illegal construction of temporary structures causing disruption to traffic flow causing unnecessary bottle necks but we also need to closely monitor the sub-roads and by-lanes getting congested due to encroachment / extending of chabutras and sheds by the local shop owners and fast food owners that is a big hurdle to the smooth flow of traffic
