There is no transparency in the contracts allotted to the contracts for repair of Roads and bridges. Public has no knowledge of what is happening with respect to the projects undertaken. The cost of the project, the name of the contractor, the timeline for its completion, material used and who is the Govt official in charge of monitoring the project and passing the payment on completion. There is no involvement of the local people in the project. All these aspects were addressed during the regime of Chandrababu Naidu's term as Chief Minister. We thus had good and long lasting roads. Hope, every government follows the good governance practices implemented by anyone, anywhere in the country.
to my understanding the roads need lot of improvement in Hyderabad. even though at many places, roads are sufficiently wide, but electrical poles are left in between, so the expanded road become useless. the major problem in Hyderabad roads is Bottle necking. at some place 3 or 4 vehciles can go in parralle and suddenly they have to merge in to one or 2 lanes, resulting in bottle necking. it is kiiling the traffic flow. in addition, we should avoid traffic signals and use only U turns in hyderabad kind of cities. a person starting at Miyapur should go to LB nagar with out any traffic signal similarly a person starting at hitec city should go to Uppa with out any traffic signal in between. it will ease the traffic. any vehicle coming in wrong direction should be punsihed severly and if it is repeated the driving licenese may be suspended.
Roads are laid in patches hurriedly. After some time these patches again will create few more potholes. After laying roads speed breakers are created invariably. Where is the necessity to speed breakers? Roads themselves create speed breakers. Hence change the name of the HYDERABAD as SPEEDBREAKERABAD or GOTULABAD (because pot holes are found every where). Accountability should be fixed on both officials as well as contractors because quality audit is done and bills are approved by the OFFICIALS. Why citizen committees are not formed to solve the problems of citizens for all problems including police?
