Not upto the mark. Very poor service for senior citizens. Train coach No: not displayed on indicators on platform. Cancellation of trains not informed by SMS, mail or phone to confirmed ticket holders. Conditions of toilets very bad. Western railway should run a train between Vadodara and Borivali daily which will start from Vadodara in morning and return back to own night by atleast 10 pm.
Trains running late - personal experience. Travelled Mughalsarai to Patna ( various trains late by upto 12 hrs ), Patna to Jabalpur over 1 hr, Jabalpur to Baroda over 1 hr. Jabalpur to Bhopal again over 40 mits. Various helpline numbers available, but these Rly. phones are never picked-up. Inadequate trains resulting into non-availability of seats. Backdoor VIP tkt confirmation continues. Only job, the attendants do is to distribute bed-rolls and comfortably sleep-off the journey instead of any other use or help. Overall NO IMPROVEMENT.

Recently travelled by train no. 09104, JBP to BRC. Didn't get senior citizen discount, no information was available about train running, charges are as per Super-Fast train, but takes almost 50% more time. Worst, there is NO Pantry car. Train came from Rewa & we boarded at Jabalpur and right upto last station there was no cleaning despite request for same to the conductor as compartment was very dirty.
Rlys sud give priority to Senior citizens in getting lower birth . )n 16-4-2018, travelling 1st class H1, by GujMail from Adi to Bvi, I, 69, was given upper birth and a young 50 yrs old was given lower birth. This mistake, despite strict rules to give lower birth to Seniors. Tkts were pre-confirmed, before the chart was prepared ( when berths are alotted in 1st class)
There are cockroaches in the air/con compartments, the compartments are not cleaned properly and the windows are filthy. The trains from Pune to Mumbai do not run on time, they are always late and smell of urine and bad iron.
they operated one Subidha express on 16th Oct, which was totally mismanaged. Platform to board was fixed only 20 min before the departure time. there was hardly any pantry car facility though they were overflowing with their inventory of food cereals. bathrooms were not fitted with soap bottle. we were not served food on the first night. only 2*300 ml of water was served. it was also not told no more would be given. there was no wi-fi to connect irctc. Call center nos were not displayed. before Vijaywada station the train was stalled IR and 5 trains were given go ahead. in the rest of the way Subidha Express was screaming for clearence....the train was late by 3-15hrs at Santragachi. IRCTC provides cab at Howrah station, but they do not provide cab at their satellite station, 7 km away by road. irctc has charged Rs 2000 extra and the had earned extra out of our cancellations in other trains. now they should refund us the extra amount for the Asubidha they had created providing all BER bogies in Subidha express.

After Mr.Suresh Prabhu took over the reigns, the state of Indian railway platform has become fantastic. Earlier we used to see/get dirty things(and even dirty smell of toilet(i.e., urine smell)) on the platforms/walkovers. Now, there are cleaners standing alert in these areas and maintaining it pretty clean. I observed this especially in Bangalore and Mantralaya railway stations. Also there are many services like 'destination station alert' and dedicated telephone numbers for different services etc.,
Kudos to Mr. Suresh Prabhu and his team for the great work which was not observed for many years earlier. This is the best example to highlight that 'IF ONE WANTS TO DO THE WORK/SERVICE, HE/SHE CAN DO IT AT ANY COST IRRESPECTIVE OF THE SIZE OF THE ORGANIZATION'.
I had a terrible experience of travelling on Howrah-Pune Duranto Exp started on 3rd Nov-18 from Howrah. It commenced by 1 and half hrs late and arrived Pune by 9 hrs late on 4th Nov. Food supply stopped after lunch hour and it did not halt on stations but at odd places, from where you could get no foods and beverages. Nowadays they charge variable fares and I paid @ Rs.3500 each while booking my tickets. And this train was getting the least priority while all other trains were being allowed to go ahead of it. All this at a cost equal to airfare! Who is going to travel by Duranto, a so-called premium train? This is the reason why half my compartment was empty and still they foods were also being served late, e.g. breakfast on 3rd was served a12 noon, lunch at 4 pm and dinner at 11 pm and so on.
