Ever since IRCTC is intoduced, the quality of food and beverages has been the worst. My daughter had taken breakfast at Vijayawada railway station and had fallen sick due to that. Most of the trains reach Vijyawada station at midnight and plenty of tea vendors use to be available on the platform and at the coaches. After take over of IRCTC no vendor is coming to the coaches and the passengers have to search for a stall to get the tea. I travelled from Nizamuddin to Secunderabad by Kongu express which do not have a pantry car. From Balhashah to Kazipet from 0600 hrs to 0930 hrs, no tea vendor had come in the train. When I purchased Idli/Vada on the platform, it was stale and was smelling foul, as a result I had to throw it, Till Kacheguda, no vendor supplied any food. My daughter travelled by NZM duronto express on 17.1.2019 in 2A. She complained that the food supplied was cold and tasteless. On enquiry, the attendent said that hot case is not available like in Rajdhani express, as a result the food had become cold. This train being a Preimium train, is not provided the necessary hot case to keep food warm, is highly objectionable and shows apathy of railways service to the passengers. Often it can be seen in many trains the quality and quantity of Tea served by vendors, is low and they are charging Rs.10/- instead of Rs.7/- prescribed. It is never 150ml as prescribed. This is the practice of IRCTC authorised vendors/private vendors.
