The quality of food that used to prepared at the Railway base kitchens earlier and served on trains was far, far superior both in terms of quality and content. Unfortunately, the food available presently is not only of poor quality, it is often inappropriate and poorly presented.
I am frequent traveller by Shatabdi Express trains, and the menu has remained the same for years now. For these trains plying in South India, it should not be difficult at all to provide a south Indian menu. Instead it is the same menu over and over again, be it lunch/dinner or teatime snack or breakfast.
