Indian Railways Catering

The kitchen attached to thee trains are dirty & unhygenic. Further food derved from this kitche or base kitchen is of poor quality.

Poor quality food.

Food supplied in trains is very ordinary.

The food supplied in Duranto Exress (both from Nizamuddin & Pune) is horrible. They serve hot "Nibu Pani" as caterere never bothers to keep it in ice at least 40 to 50 minutes before departure followed by cold "Soup" within 15/20 minutes after departure instead of 15 minutes before serving lunch. Lunch & dinners are both horrible as "Dal" & "Subzi" selected are same for lunch & dinner. In subzi Panner is almost missing. Both Dal & Subzi are watery instead of thick gravy. Rice is coarse. Pulao is not in dictionary of caterer.
Items like Papar, Salad are never found on menu for last 2 years or so. Very Often ice cream is not frozen & looks like thick milk.
Snacks are equally horrible. Cheese sandwiches are replaced by Rs. 5/- packet of Bhujia. Sweet is from local shop instead of Haldiram or equivalent.
On Nizamuddin-Pune sector, 2 bottles of mineral water are permitted by Railway but if one asks for another bottle, it is charged @ Rs. 20/- whereas as per Railway on this sector caterere gets 2 bottles per passengers & 1 bother on return journey.

The catering that we experienced in Rajdhani from Delhi to Mumbai was horrible and all of us in family ended up with stomach pain on subsequent days. The ice cream etc were okay but meal was pathetic with a paneer which looked like eraser from my daughter's compass. Horrible tea and coffee to go with it making the experience worse.
