Somehow this surge pricing has to be capped. Sir, whenever there is a scope, the private airlines jack up fares to exploit the situation. It is my humble suggestion that strict guidelines may be issued to the private carriers that in the event of following situations they just cannot increase the fares arbitrarily. For almost a decade I have drawn the kind attention of the government on this issue.
1. Shifting of masses during natural calamities.
2. Movements related to Defence situations and terror attacks.
3. Movements related to evacuation due to Medical Hazards
4.Enter into effective and transparent interline seat offer arrangements to carry passengers in view of strikes and flight disruptions
Additionally the airlines may be advised to display flight-wise availability of seats and the fares at the entry points of the airports. I have seen people struggling to find out fares , running from one airline counter to another, in case of deaths and other emergencies. One point display near the departure lounges of the airports may ease the situation for last moment travelers, more so those who are to travel in their moments of distress .
