Being a branded entity,they pay excise duty to the Government. Today people buy gold irrespective of their financial status. So paying to Government by way of taxes is welcome. It appears private jewellers are not paying excise duty. The private jewellers also use PANCARD details of other people,when black money is used to buy gold. Such a thins are not being followed by Tanishq, TATA enterprise. Taking this as role model, uniform guidelines shall be formulated, to collect revenue for Government, prevent black money. Unhealthy practice followed by others encourage and instigate people to develop unhealthy practices.

A similar case with me on Amazon. I ordered for a cellphone at the available price and paid online. After ordering I was going thru the newspaper to find the same model Rs.3000/- cheaper amazingly the ad was of Amazon. I had to immediately write to the customer care for refund. Amazon agreed and refund was passed. But what if I wouldnt have seen the advt.??? Consumers have to be vigilant.

Recently ordered Lavazza coffee via Amazon with invoice value of INR 748 only to receive a shipment from istoredirect with MRP printed as INR 600.

Rule 18(2) of the legal metrology (packaged commodities) says, “No retail dealer or other person including manufacturer, packer, importer and wholesale dealer shall make any sale of any commodity in packed form at a price exceeding the retail sale price thereof.”

If the extra charge would have been identified as a service fee, the consumer can then decide whether to accept that or not order the product.
