Kolkata Municipal Corporation

Municipality worker collects garbage from home. Since awareness of Swachch Bharat has not been done methodically, cleaning of open drains is done twice a year and people dump garbage in open drains.

My house is covered under Khardaha Municipality, under North 24 Paraganas, West Bengal. There is no segregation of organic/ plastic etc. Neither there is any scientific method of waste disposal. But the Municipality collect the garbage regularly from home.

KMC is still to introduce garbage collection bins on footpaths so that people can throw away unnecessary things in these bins and the road remains clean like the same available in parks. I have seen some of them in Mumbai city. It may be implemented wherever possible as Kolkata is an old city and walkways are narrow / missing at some paces.

Garbage collection is ok...transportation is still not very good, but action for dengue prevention is not upto the mark...needs lot of improvement...water logging challenge has decreased with less rain this year....rain water harvesting needs promotion like solar power
