Corporation has to do a lot more in terms of collection and recycling. Some private entities are doing a good job

Garbage collection in Kozhikode Municipal area is done mostly by Kutumba Shree volunteers and is partly good, but poor in several areas. First of all, they are collecting only from houses where they have given two buckets ( biodegradable and nonbio ) long time back. They do not even pick a piece of plastic or the waste dumped on the road. I volunteered to collect and put it in their truck, but they refused as they have been instructed only to collect from the buckets distributed. Many residents still throw the garbage on the road in plastic bags and the garbage from dinner parties are thrown on the road. You can see large bags dumped at many places.

Garbage Collection is very good, but due to several reasons people still do not bother to segregate the waste before handing over to the Kudumbasree workers
